What is a dog?

A dog is a quadruped comprising of a highly efficient smelling device at one end, an arse at the other end and an as yet unmeasured quantity of love and affection in between. They are mammals of the order Carnivora, but they are not strictly carnivores. Unlike cats, which are obligate carnivores and depend on a pretty much meat only diet in order to survive, dogs are much more omnivorous and can take nutrition from a variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs. In saying that, a dog will willingly assist in the building of a chicken house so that he may better understand his means of entry while you’re not looking, or perhaps plot the location of a secret tunnel for clandestine use while you are sleeping, but when you need help in planting carrots, you’re on your own. Turns out nobody actually told dogs that they’re not carnivores. However, my dogs quite happily munch on a raw carrot and even knick the tomatoes straight off the vine, thieving bastards.

So, I’m going to add a few tips and recipes intended to give you an idea of what veggies and planty type things are good for your dog, and more importantly, those that are dangerous. And these are me dags...
